At Bam & Stitch, comfort is at the heart of everything we do. We think about the soft pajamas, the cozy blankets, the bedtime routines, the little snuggles, and all the everyday moments that help kids feel safe, loved, and cared for.
But comfort goes deeper than what we can touch.
It is also knowing that families have support when life feels heavy. It is knowing that parents, caregivers, kids, teens, and communities have places to turn when mental health becomes part of the conversation.
That is why, for the entire month of May, Bam & Stitch is proud to support NAMI National, also known as the National Alliance on Mental Illness. A portion of all purchases made on our website this month will be donated directly to NAMI in support of their work helping individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Who NAMI Is
NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, working to build better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has grown into a national organization with more than 650 local affiliates and 49 state organizations. That local connection matters because mental health support is not one size fits all. Families need resources that feel reachable, understandable, and connected to real life.
NAMI helps through education, advocacy, support, awareness, and community programs. Their work reaches people living with mental health conditions, parents, caregivers, friends, schools, workplaces, and communities that want to better understand how to support one another.
And honestly, that kind of work matters so much.
Why Mental Health Support Matters for Families
As moms, we know kids feel everything. Sometimes they have the words for it. Sometimes they do not. Sometimes big feelings come out at bedtime, in the car, during a routine change, or right when everyone is already tired.
Mental health can feel intimidating to talk about, especially when you are a parent trying to figure out what is normal, what needs extra attention, and what kind of support your child might need. NAMI helps make those conversations feel less lonely.
Their resources for kids, teens, and young adults focus on helping families recognize when support may be needed, how to talk about mental health, and where to find help. They also offer information for parents and caregivers who are trying to better understand what their child may be going through.
That is the kind of support that can make a real difference in a home. Not because it makes parenting perfect. Nothing does. But because it gives families a little more language, a little more direction, and a little more confidence when they need it most.
How NAMI Helps
NAMI’s work shows up in many ways.
They offer free education programs led by trained NAMI volunteers. Many of these programs are peer led, meaning they are shaped by people who understand mental health challenges through lived experience. That kind of connection can be incredibly meaningful because it reminds people that they are not alone.
NAMI also offers support groups for people living with mental health conditions and for family members, friends, and caregivers. For many families, having a place to be heard and understood can be a powerful first step.
Their national Help Line provides free, confidential support, mental health information, and resources for people facing tough challenges. They also offer specific support for teens, young adults, and family caregivers.
NAMI also works through advocacy, helping push for better mental health policies, stronger community resources, and a future where mental health is treated with the care and seriousness it deserves.
Why This Matters to Bam & Stitch
At Bam & Stitch, we care deeply about kids and the people raising them. We care about the newborn days, the toddler years, the big kid years, and all the messy, beautiful, real moments in between.
We make soft things for little ones, yes. But our bigger hope has always been to support families in a way that feels loving, thoughtful, and meaningful.
Supporting NAMI this May feels like an extension of that mission. Because every child deserves to grow up in a world where mental health is talked about with care. Every parent deserves access to resources that help them feel less alone. Every family deserves support that meets them with compassion.
And every community is stronger when mental health support is easier to find.
How You Can Help This May
For the entire month of May, a portion of all Bam & Stitch website purchases will be donated directly to NAMI National.
That means when you choose something soft and cozy for your little one, you are also helping support an organization that provides education, advocacy, and community resources for people and families affected by mental illness.
It is a small way to be part of something bigger.
And we are so grateful to have a community that shows up for causes that matter. Not just for our own kids, but for kids everywhere. For families everywhere. For the people who need a reminder that they are not walking through this alone.
From all of us at Bam & Stitch, thank you for helping us support NAMI this May. Together, we can keep choosing softness, care, and meaningful change for families everywhere.
